It's been a while since I last sat in front of the TV, turning green with fashion envy at the glamour and glitz of the outfits on the red carpet of an awards show.  After watching the fabulous Brit Awards last week I thought it was about time I brought back the My Best Dressed feature!

Jessie J in Falguni & Shane Peacock
It's never a surprise to see the stunning Jessie J dressed in something so out there and revealing!  I'm a massive fan of lace, and although this sheer red number is not something that even many celebs could pull off, Jessie J's whole look is just fab!  The hair and dark sultry eye make up works with the gown perfectly.

Alexandra Burke in Alpana & Neeraj
How stunning was Alexandra at the Brits!  Perhaps my favourite of the night, despite the shoulder 'armour' not receiving that much love from what I can see on the Internet! I think it is amazing, the contrasting colour and material sets off the fabulous drapes of the electric blue Grecian style gown, giving it the perfect edge.  With the long plait to boot Alexandra looks like the modern day Ancient Greek goddess Athena!

Pixie Lott
Looking very sophisticated and grown up, it was the detail of Pixie Lott's dress that stood out to me.  I love the retro feel that her whole look achieves... Pixie always has the most amazing hair!

Caroline Flack
You can always trust Caraline to stay loyal to her own signatire style, always on top of the fashion trends I love the fact that she gone for the high necked colour with a statement necklace.  Caraline is well known as a lover of playsuits, but this casually put together short and jacket combo adds that little bit sophistication needed for a glam event like The Brits!

I'm loving the whole award season at the moment, and the fashion most of all, so expect a few more of these types of posts!  Who was your favourite from the Brits?  Are there any other red carpet wonders that I should check out?

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope that you have all had a lovely day!  I've been smelling particularly nice this Valentine's because Chris woke me up this morning with a little beauty, for me perfume is the best Valentine's gift!

Jimmy Choo describe this fragrance as a modern fruity chypre with warm, rich, woody depths. With luminous green top notes, an aura of rich exotic tiger orchid and base notes of sweet toffee meld with Indonisian patchouli.

I wish I could sniff a perfume and reach such depths of a description!  Alas.  I can definitely smell the sweetness of toffee, though this perfumes reminds more of raspberries than anything else.  What I do know is that I this perfume is lovely, and really fits in with collection at the moment, which includes, namley, Juicy Couture's Couture Couture, Marc Jacob's Daisy, Paco Rabanne's Lady Million and Armani Code.  It's typically sweet perfumes that I go for, particulary for during the day.  Jimmy Choo fits this genre  exactly, but not in that sickly way some celebrity perfumes achieve, it's just more , well, mature.  The best thing about this perfume is that it lasts!  All day!... unlike some of the others mentioned above.  When first spritzed, being an eau de parfum, it can be a little overpowering, but I don't mind that, all the better for lasting all day!

On to the bottle design... I think it's close to perfect (even if it does remind me of a hand grenade, and it's very similar to Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb)!  Very classy from the sturdy black square cap to the beautifully shaped, thick glass bottle.  It's now taking pride of place on my dressing table!

What do you think of this perfume?  Let me know what your favourite perfumes are at the moment.  I hope you all managed to spend your Valentine's Day with people you care about!

How to Hair Heat Free WavesHow to Hair Heat Free Waves BloggerHow to Hair Heat Free Waves BloggerHow to Hair Heat Free Waves Blogger

I feel like I'm constantly in the midst of my 'Hair Conservation Project', what I named my continued quest to rid myself of split ends!  I've recently decided to use minimal heat as possible, which has meant having to be a little more creative when trying to create loose waves!

Here's my current routine:
(bearing in mind my hair does have a bit of a natural wave to it, and isn't the thickest so dries quite quickly)
  • Shampoo and heavily condition the ends
  • Run some serum through the length of the damp hair
  • Blow dry the roots, gently blasting the rest of length - all on a cool setting
  • While the ends are still damp separate the hair into sections
  • Twist! Into what I can only describe as a mixture of dreadlocks/ ringlets
  • Continue twisting until hair is dry (or as long as you can face wait)
Additional step if you're going somewhere special
  • Spritz with a heat protectant spray
  • Curl a few strands with straighteners or curling wand to add a bit more definition.

In other news it was my birthday yesterday!  Thank you to all my friends and family that sent me cards and pressies, and everyone who sent me lovely birthday wishes, texts and messages on facebook and twitter!  I had a really quiet one, mainly because I was full of cold and felt pretty rubbish.  Chris ended up taking me for a lovely meal though, we went to a Greek restaurant.  Yum!

I'm currently every so slightly obsessed with Game of Thrones, I'm reading the second book on the kindle at the moment.  This bronze H&M jumper seriously reminds me of chain mail... which is kinda the fashion in the books!   The jumper is made of a really heavy, almost metallic type material.  It's not exactly warm, with the amount of holes it's got in it, but I love the colour and the really baggy fit.

H&M Jumper  |  Follie Folli Bracelet  |  Can't remember where the ring is from - sorry!
