No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream Blog Review

No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream, Medium - Boots (£12.95)*

This was the product that converted me to BB creams!  I tend to not bother with foundations during the day, but because my skin is far from perfect I've always hidden imperfections with a tinted moisturiser.  I was always intrigued by BB creams - particularly with the claim that they improve skin tone and help fight blemishes.  However having oily skin I didn't feel overly confident after reading countless reviews about yellow toned greasy BB creams.

No7 were one of the first brands to bring out a BB cream tailored towards different skin types.  I received a couple of the Normal /Dry versions in Medium at the Meadowhall Bloggers Event back in March, and as I've mentioned before I've a tenadancy to get oily skin so wouldn't have necessarily picked Normal / Dry myself.  However, I've had plenty of time to give the product a go in a variety of climates, and really like it!

I've had reason to think for some time now that my oiliness is due to my skin being dehydrated, perhaps this is why the Normal /Dry seems to be working for me.  The cream is quite thick but works well when applied with both a Real Techniques Buffing Brush and your fingers.  It at first leaves a rather dewy look to the skin, which I personally like, but which also soon sinks in nicely.  The coverage is amazing, it really works well at hiding my spots and creating  an even base, for applying a powder and the rest of your make-up.  All BB creams claim to be able to work wonders in improving the condition your skin.  I'm not sure that this true of No Beautiful Skin BB Cream, I certainly didn't get any fewer spots with use, however my skin did feel a lot softer and smoother a few weeks of use!

Although the Medium tone works well with my colouring I think it's slightly on the dark side compared to other 'medium' colours produced by other brands, it's a lot lighter than both the L'Oreal Nude Magique or 17 BB cream in medium, for example.  I do tend to get a bit oily towards the end of the working day wearing this BB cream, however this something that happens to be no matter what I have on!  I'll definitely be trying the No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream tailored towards oily skin next time, to see how that works, but to be honest I'd be happy to continue with the version I've tried!

I know BB creams can be one of those love or hate products, let me know where do you stand in the comments!

Topshop Allegra Boots
Now that winter is fast approaching, and all the shops have removed their summer stock in favour of Autumn, I felt it was finally time for me too to put away my sandals and ballet pumps and getting thinking about some boots!

The whole Chelsea Boot phenomenon totally passed me by last winter.  I think the masculinity of the classic Chelsea Boot always put me off them in the past.  I can't imagine myself in what was essentially a Victorian work boot without looking, well, masculine!  I have to admit though that once the craze for the Topshop Allegra Boot hit it's peak I was very tempted to get my hands on a pair.  With that couple of inches in the heel I thought this was a pair of boots I could pull off, but of course I was too late!  Topshop no longer sold them and people were asking for crazy money on eBay for the true Allegra's!

When I spotted these Heeled Chelsea Boots on Cloggs.co.uk I jumped at the opportunity to order a pair!  Although not real leather, the quality of the Cloggs boots is fabulous.  They fit perfectly (something I struggle with due to my tiny size 4 to 4.5 feet!) and the soft textile material inside makes them so comfy to wear!  At £29.99 they are an absolute bargain!... Especially if you can remember how much the Topshop Allegra's were! ;-/

AX Paris Wrap Dress

I spent last weekend in Barry Island, South Wales for my friends' wedding...  Congratulations Charlotte & Tom, it was the best day ever!  I was a bridesmaid too, yay!  Check out my instagram (@charlcollection) for a few pictures.

I made the most of the last of the British Summer by wearing this AX Paris Wrap dress to Sunday lunch, a get together at Barry Island Yacht Club, the day after the wedding.  It was amazing being with so many friends in such a beautiful place, the comedy show Gavin and Stacy does not do justice to the gorgeous coastal scenery of Barry!!  This wrap dress was perfect for the occasion, just the right combination of casual with the jersey material, but nicely stylish and classy at the same time.  I love the flattering shape created by the drapes.  Better yet, the stone colour paid homage to my bridesmaid dress worn the day before (picture)!

No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser Blog ReviewNo7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser

No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser - Boots (£9)*

You know those products that are such staples you don't even think twice about them?  Well it dawned on me recently that is exactly what the No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser is!  I first tried the cleanser after receiving a couple of tubes for Normal/ Dry skin in the goodie bags from the Meadowhall Blogger Style School.  Now I've nearly used my last one up I'll definitely be repurchasing, particularly when I'm presented with the £5 voucher at the till in Boots!

The product has the consistency of a light balm like gel and transforms into an oil as you massage it into damp skin.  I use a similar amount as shown in the image above and start by working it in all around my face, then finishing off with an extra pea sized amount to remove light eye-makeup.  Sometimes however I repeat if I've a full face of make-up on!  I find the gel to oil formula a lot easier and so more convenient to work with than MAC Cleanse Off Oil, for example, while still having the same effect of 'melting' off all traces of makeup.

I wouldn't say the Melting Gel Cleanser has totally replaced my beloved Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, as I love the tingly feeling the eucalyptus leaves on the skin as well as that deep clean you get using the muslin cloth to exfoliate, however I enjoy using it most days of the week.  The Melting Gel Cleanser means just that bit less faffing about, perfect when I'm in a rush, or just being plain lazy!  Though I always finish off removing my make-up with a quick wipe round with Bioderma!  Still, the Melting Gel Cleanser does leave my skin feeling very conditioned and soft.  Despite using the pink capped cleanser for Normal/ Dry skin when I in fact have oily skin, I'm sure the hydrating oil has in fact helped regulate my skin and oil production.  Bonus!

Avene Thermal Spring Water Blog Review
After the great results I got from the Avène Skin Recovery Cream (click for review), which completely cleared up my dry and irritated skin and which I can see myself repurchasing again and again, I've become a massive fan of the French pharmaceutical brand Avène.  When shopping for those summer holiday essentials I picked up the Thermal Water Spray,  purely because I trusted the brand so much!

The Thermal Water Spray simply contains the Avène Thermal Spring Water and nitrogen.  I do feel like there is something a little strange in buying a can simply full of water as a beauty product.  However there is something a little special about the Avène Water, that is very low mineralised, rich in silica and trace elements and is clinically proven to be naturally soothing, anti-irritating and anti-free radical.

It gets quite hot in Malta (!) so I thought this would be the perfect product to soothe any sunburn, shaving or heat rash I may get on holiday, as well as just to simply cool me down!  I really loved using this product.  It was in my beach bag at all times, ready for use to trap in moisture between applications of sun cream, to help clear my skin of salt water residue after dips in the sea and to soothe my skin at the end of the day.  One regret was not having a smaller version of the product to fit in my hand luggage and rehydrate me on the plane!

Now I'm back home from holiday I've been quickly spritzing my skin after cleansing, and prior to moisturising as a great way of getting the great minerals found in the Thermal Water locked into my skin.  If nothing else it makes my skin feel lovely and refreshed!

Fashion Blogger Chain Print Dress

I've been on holiday again!  ...And so the break from blogging, yet again!  This time I was on a family holiday visiting my sister, Lucy, on the beautiful Island of Gozo.  Ten of us flew out from the UK, it was so much fun spending time with the family in the sun!

I thought I'd share one of my favourite outfits from the holiday - let me know if you'd like to see some more holiday snaps, I'll happily put another post together.  I wore this gorgeous turquoise chain print dress to one of our family's favourite restaurants on Gozo, The Boat House in Xlendi Bay, which we visited on our first night of the holiday (and on a few more nights besides!).

I picked up this AX Paris dress using vouchers from the Blogzilla event I attended a few weeks ago goodie bag.  Being a lovely light weight, silky material it was perfect for keeping cool on such a hot Maltese evenings!
