Pregnant in Dubrovnik

How many come back posts am I going to post on this blog?!  I'm hoping that this will be the last!

My last post was in October 2014, and in a lot of ways it feels like a lifetime ago.  As you will have guessed from the picture, and if you follow me on instagram, you will know that everything has changed for me in the last 18 months... I'm now a mummy!  This picture was taken in May 2015, when I was around 5 months pregnant with my wonderful little boy Lucas.  (Seeing this pregnant picture of me up on my blog makes me a little sad that I didn't blog throughout my pregnancy, those posts would have been amazing for me to look back on.  At least I can be thankful for instagram!)

Lucas is now a happy, lively 7 month old and an absolute joy to be around.  I plan to post a lot more on a Charlotte's Collection so I'm sure you'll see a lot of him on here, but for now I wanted to say 'hey' and give a little run down of what I've been up to in the last 18 months... wow, now for me to think back, which can be difficult with constant baby brain!

January 2015
I visited my new born nephew in Malta, though I didn't know I had a teeny tiny little Lucas in my tummy  - it was a good job that I had given up alcohol!

March 2015
Our first scan, Lucas even looked cute as a 12 week old fetus!

May 2015
My grandad passed away.  This was a really sad time for me for obvious reasons, we had a lot of bereavement in the family in the weeks up until my grandad's passing and this came as a complete shock.  It makes me sad every time I think that they won't ever meet, they're both such characters and I see so many of my grandad's expressions in Lucas that it would have been great to see them together!

In may we also went on a much need 'baby moon' to Dubrovnik, Croatia.  The weather was amazing and Chris and I were so busy at work and had been through so much that it was just what we needed to relax before the crazy busy coming months!

June 2015
A 29 week pregnant me attended Glastonbury Festival!  It was an experience... I've been to the festival before so I didn't think anything to going whilst pregnant, we had a great time but it was way more tiring than I expected.  For those that have never been before, Glastonbury is massive!  You do smooch walking just to get from one stage to another that I was ready for bed by 10pm each night!... especially since I wasn't able to drink any alcohol to keep me going!!  Luckily blow up mattresses are pretty comfy when you're pregnant so sleeping in a tent wasn't a big deal!

As we set off to Glastonbury for the weekend builders moved into our house to start our kitchen rennovations!  We knocked through our kitchen and dining room while opening up existing extension ceiling at the same time for extra height and added velux windows.  It was more than work than you'd expect due to supporting walls and the existing extension so I was pleased to be enjoying a festival while all the really messy work was underway!

July 2015
This month was a blur of builders dust, living without a kitchen and DIY!  We had a lot of help from family but Chris did a lot of the work himself including laying a solid wood floor and fitting the quite bespoke kitchen that we designed!

August 2015
Hello maternity leave. I was getting pretty big by the end of August when I was due to finish work, it was summer, work was hectic (2015 was one of the most stressful years I'd experienced at my company, not exactly what I needed given that I was pregnant!) so I was very much ready to start my maternity leave and finally start preparing for the baby!

September 2015
Lucas arrived on September 2015 by emergency c-section, 11 days late!  I went into labour naturally but he was back to back which meant he wasn't in the right position to come out unassisted... if I can muster up the courage I think I'll write about my labour and delivery story on here!

December 2015
Lucas' First Christmas!

January 2016
I'd been exclusively breastfeeding Lucas but towards the end of December this became a real struggle. January was a really pivotal month on our breastfeeding journey, Lucas had a posterior tongue tie divided, he was nearly 4 months old so it had gone undiagnosed for a long time, and by February I'd started feeding him with a combination of breastfeeding and formula.  Feeding your baby is such an important topic and I feel like we went through nearly everything imaginable on our journey where I'd hoped, but been unable to, breastfeed exclusively.  However I'm still breastfeeding Lucas today, something that I'm really proud of and didn't expect to be doing back in January.  I learnt  so much that I think it deserves a blog post all of it's own.  Watch this space!

February 2016
I turned 30!  I still can't believe that my twenties are over, but I was lucky to have welcomed in my thirties with plenty of celebrations.  I was treated to plenty of lunches and afternoon tea with the ladies of my family.  We had a night without the baby as we hosted a party that went on about 5 hours past my new bedtime (of 9pm!) and I visited Edinburgh with my boys - our first time travelling with Lucas.

March 2016
My first Mother's Day, we enjoyed snow topped hills on a lovely walk in the Yorkshire Dales.  Bliss.

April 2016
Lucas' first trip abroad.  We've just got back from visiting Chris' parents in Normandy.  Lucas loved spending time with his grandparents and we had a wonderful break in a part of France that we're lucky enough to now know really well.  Lucas did so well on the long car and ferry journeys that it's made me a lot more relaxed about our up coming trip to Malta to visit my family!

Well that was an update an a half!  Thanks for sticking with me if you read this post to the end... and for just reading it at all after the long break I took from blogging!
Fashion Beauty Blog

If you're reading this post from a subscription feed I bet the first thing you thought when you saw it listed was... who?

It's been a long time hey?  I actually can't believe the last post on here is from JUNE!  It really doesn't feel like that long to me, because I've still been reading blogs on a regular basis and I'm still very much a fashion and beauty junkie!  The break has been a long time though, and with lots of people in my personal life asking if I'd given up on blogging I thought it was about time I sorted it out.  Cue dramatic, lonely-looking picture of me walking through some woods, and a random bit of waffle I'll categories as 'update' to get me back into the swing of things!

So, what have I been up to?  In as few words as possible; we sold our house, put all our stuff in storage, moved in with my parents and viewed 30+ properties around Leeds until we found the 'one' (we were close to calling Phil and Kirsty many a time - seriously).  We've not moved into the new place yet but we've got a date set in December.  Finally!  I've also been working a lot of long hours at the office, so with that and the house hunt, finding the time, energy and motivation to blog has been tough.

The last few months haven't been all slog though!  I've managed to squeeze in a few nice weekends away with friends, a girls holiday to Ibiza and a family trip to Malta... not to mention starting and finishing Breaking Bad - how good is that show!?

So, now you're all up to date I promise that you that Charlotte's Collection will be back to business as usual.  Stay tuned for the usual beauty reviews, outfit and lifestyle posts as well as the plenty of home decor and update posts - I can't wait to be all moved into our new place and start decorating!

Thanks for sticking around!!

Rickshaw Mumbai Pune Inidia
Hello!  Remember me?  I've been a little absent from blogging recently due to the fact I've been working in India the last few weeks!  Yep, work decided to send me all the way to Pune, and although I actually did have to do a lot of work (unfortunately!)  I did manage to get out and about to see a bit of Pune and the surrounding area.  In true blogger style I wanted to share a few of pics and experiences with you guys!

I have to say, this post is very photo heavy, and if you're interested I've shared even more pictures on my instagram (@CharlCollection), but it was such a great experience it was difficult narrowing down the few pics I took - I'm sure (hope) you won't be bored by this post!

India is such an amazing country,  I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to travel there, while meeting some great colleagues in the country for the time.  I only briefly got to see a tiny part of the country, but the culture and diversity was astounding.  One minute we were in the hustle n bustle, just simply plain madness of Mumbai, the next we were travelling through sparse but stunning countryside heading to final destination of Pune, taking snaps of the unbelievably tame, yet completely wild monkeys!

In India you really do get to see the best the world has to have offer; incredibly friendly and smiley people, amazingly vibrant food and colours.  I was lucky enough to stay in a wonderful hotel, but stepping out of the hotel it was really quite unbelievable the amount of poverty you could encounter on the other side of the street.  It was a real eye opener.  I hope to be able to go back and explore some more!

If you've ever travelled to India, or any country nearby, let me know what you thought.  Have you any recommendations of things to do and see?

25 Facts About Me Fashion Beauty Blog

When the 50 Facts About Me tag started to surface I was bit like - urgh, who cares and never read them!  Then people started breaking them down to 25, and it caught my attention.  I found myself loving the tags that I read, whether they were fun and light hearted or totally deep, honest and personal - I even found myself going back and reading the 50 factors!  So here I am with my 25...

1)  I've been vegetarian for over 10 years.

2)  I fell in love with Italy after attending a summer school at the British School of Rome whilst at Uni.  I had the best time ever visiting archaeological sites around the city.

3)  This experience inspired me to learn Italian.  I took evening classes after work at both GCSE and AS level.  The courses have finished but I'm still trying to learn!

4)  I don't drink tea.  It's one of my most antisocial qualities.

5)  I always wanted to get a horse called Hazel when I grew up.  It hasn't happened.

6)  I have a scar on my eyebrow (accident as a baby) and on the palm of my hand (bit by an Alsatian).

7)  I did geography A-Level because I wanted to be a weather girl.

8)  I used to hate olives but now I'm addicted to them!

9)  I'm a teeny tiny 5'4.  I wish I was taller.

10)  I live for my holidays.

11)  I don't like my teeth.

12)  Malta is like my second home.

13)  I think I might be addicted to fizzy drinks.  I hate that fact.

14)  I got engaged in Rome.  Chris proposed in italian ♡

15)  I love films, but don't have a favourite  Who could choose just one?!

16)  I probably have enough fancy dress outfits to start a shop!

17)  I'm obsessed with reading.  I love everything from fantasy to thriller, historical drama to chick lit.  I particularly love a series of books - the obsession can last longer!

18)  I'm happy in my own company, but get depressed when I'm lonely.

19)  I was massively into pop punk, metal, rock and ska up until finishing uni.  Now, not as much, but I still hold a soft spot!

20)  I'm really bad with names.

21)  I don't particularly enjoy driving.   It's a way to get from A to B, but I much prefer being a passenger!

22)  I always order the same thing at Wagamama.  No.27 - no mushrooms (I hate mushrooms, which can be awkward when you're vegetarian!)

23)  I went to Newcastle University and studied Ancient History.

24)  My niece, Sophia, is Maltese.  She's just turned 2 years old and is the most fun ever.  Visiting her in Gozo is my favourite thing to do.  Ever.

25)  I'm half Irish.

Well done if you made it to the end, I hope you enjoyed it!  If you've done this tag, post me your YouTube or blog post links below.  I love having a nosy!

I feel so lucky to live so close to such a beautiful city like York.  When I fancy doing a bit of shopping and taking in some fabulous historic sights it's always the place I go - sorry Leeds!  We had such lovely sunny but it wasn't until after wondering round the shops for hours and eating the most food ever at Wagamama's (you might seen a lot of pictures up on my instagram!) that I thought to take outfit pictures.  Still, the pictures came out ok.

I've been loving these red wine 'disco pants' by naanaa clothing.  Though more like wet look leggings with a zip and pockets than the actual thick material of disco pants, the colour is my favourite at the moment.  I do kind of struggle to decide what to wear with them though, but as it wasn't too cold I went for a classic t-shirt and my favourite coat (well second favourite now, as I picked up a new from Zara on this shopping trip to York!

Let me know what you wear with these type of leggings.  I hope, for those of you not near the city, you enjoy having a peak at what some of it's like from the pictures!

Happy Sunday!  I hope you've all had a lovely weekend.  I just wanted to put up a quick post to show you my new hair.  No great changes, it's a bit of a mess because I was caught it rain/ hail leaving the hair dressers and the pictures don't quite do it justice because they were taken around 4:30 pm - so really bad light!  But here we go.

I hadn't had my hair cut in FIVE MONTHS!  Shocking I know.  But I have quite a phobia of hairdressers, they never seem to listen to what I want!  Luckily, I think I've found a nice one now though!  I've had a good 3-4 inches chopped off with a few long layers.  If you look through my last few outfit posts, you can see that my hair was looking a bit 'brassy' through the mid sections, towards the ends.  I wanted to get rid of this and go back to my darker 'roots', whilst also keeping the lighter ends (but without being in your face ombre).

My lovely hair dresser seemed to know exactly what I was after.   She put a few highlights underneath while running a darker toner through the rest, concentrating on the roots.  I'm really pleased with it!

Fashion Beauty Blogger Update

I've had such a lazy Sunday, and it's been fab!  I've really enjoyed simply reading, relaxing, pottering round the house and tucking into a big Sunday dinner - it doesn't happen very often!  Another thing that doesn't seem to happen that often anymore is my weekly update.  What do you guys think of these type of posts?  I know a lot of bloggers do something similar, I enjoy having a quick browse over them, but do you?  I'm thinking of only doing them once a month, but let me know what you think in the comments below.  Do love have a nosey or do these posts bore you?  I'd love to know!

New Year 2012 2013 Fashion Blogger Outfits

... Welcome 2013!

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful night over New Year Eve, whether you chilled out on the sofa or partied the night away.  I spent the night at a house party and had lot's of fun!

I wanted to start 2013 with look back at a selection of my outfit posts of 2012.  A lot of my favourite outfit pictures were taken on holiday.  I was lucky enough to travel a lot in 2012!  Visiting France and Malta a number times; I visited family in Normandy, and in the summer road tripped it round Southern France and on to Northern Italy - one of my favourite places.  For relaxing family breaks I also spent a lot of time in Malta, home away from home!... the last few weeks have been particularly fab as, in the form of my sister and niece, a little bit of Malta has been visiting us here in the UK!  :)

I'd love for 2013 to be just as good, if not better, when it comes to family time and travel!  However, to say that 2012 was a pretty pants year for me work wise is kind of an understatement!  There definitely needs to be some improvements in that department in 2013!!

I don't usually think about new years resolutions but I've actually set a few for 2013:

★ We have been talking about doing moving house for so long now!  Once we've finished a bit of DIY, our house is going straight on the market!
★ 2012 has been the worse year for slacking!  I'm seriously not getting any younger and it's show around my belly region!  Exercise and cutting out the chocolate and fizzy drinks are high on my list for 2013!
★ I find blogging and interacting with my readers so enjoyable and relaxing - it really upsets me when I can't find time to blog!  In 2013 I'm definitely going to be a more consistent blogger!
★ Be more organised!  I've already got my 2013 diary - now I need to make sure I use it!  However, I also need to keep my things organised and get out of the cycle of tidying, clearing out and organising my make-up (for example) only to mess it up and do it all again!

Did you make any New Years Resolutions for 2013?  I'd love to hear them!
