I've got a little something different for you today, I hope you like it!  I wanted to do a quick review of my Kindle Fire HD because I've been pretty attached to it ever since I got it for Christmas!

I know Kindle's can be quite controversial, some people are very attached to their hard copy books.  Don't get me wrong, I love paper books, especially when it comes to coffee table books and travel guides, but I was running out of places to put them!  With the amount I read, I really don't need 'real' copies of every easy reading novel I pick up!  I can honestly say that I've read more since owning Kindles, that's got to be a good thing right?... Though not always for the bank balance it's so easy to buy books now!

I love to read.  When I first started this blog I even posted a few book reviews on my blog (let me know if you would to see more!)  I'd owned the good old Kindle - 6" E Ink Display for a year before upgrading to the Kindle Fire HD.  I loved it, with it being lightweight, more comfortable to hold and carry than real books, easy to use and just a pleasure read!  I was completely happy with it - but since accessing all my already purchased books from the online cloud, I haven't looked back since getting the Fire HD.

One of my favourite features of the Kindle Fire HD is the light up screen.  Something that I didn't even realise I was missing from my old Kindle!  I love how I can now be even more antisocial and read in the car when it's dark!  I was worried about not being comfortable with constantly reading from a lit screen, but there is absolutely no glare.

Unlike the traditional Kindle, the HD Fire is designed to be a tablet as well as an e-reader.  I don't have an iPad of my own, and Chris doesn't regularly share his :)  so it's great to be able to use my Kindle to catch up on the goings on online!  Although the Kindle App Store isn't a patch on the Apple App Store, it's got all the usual suspects you could want: Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Flipboard (my favourite way to read blogs and catching up on various social networks at once), though I do prefer to watch YouTube via the webpage rather than the apps available.  Watching YouTube, the BBC iPlayer or using Skype is pretty great, though the picture quality is no better than the iPad, the sound quality is amazing with the double Dolby speakers!

There are a few light annoyances.  Sometimes the web pages can be a little slow to load, but it's no biggie.  It's a little heavier than the Kindle E Ink, so I can't imagine being able to read for long holding it up whilst sunbathing - like I did while travelling last summer!  The main gripe is that the battery only lasts around 10 hrs, this was a bit of a shock after being used to my last Kindle lasting absolutely ages before needing to be recharged - but I suppose the Kindle Fire HD has a lot going on!

Have you got a Kindle?  Are you a forever fan or a traditionalist that give up paper book?  Let me know what you think!

Happy Sunday!  I hope you've all had a lovely weekend.  I just wanted to put up a quick post to show you my new hair.  No great changes, it's a bit of a mess because I was caught it rain/ hail leaving the hair dressers and the pictures don't quite do it justice because they were taken around 4:30 pm - so really bad light!  But here we go.

I hadn't had my hair cut in FIVE MONTHS!  Shocking I know.  But I have quite a phobia of hairdressers, they never seem to listen to what I want!  Luckily, I think I've found a nice one now though!  I've had a good 3-4 inches chopped off with a few long layers.  If you look through my last few outfit posts, you can see that my hair was looking a bit 'brassy' through the mid sections, towards the ends.  I wanted to get rid of this and go back to my darker 'roots', whilst also keeping the lighter ends (but without being in your face ombre).

My lovely hair dresser seemed to know exactly what I was after.   She put a few highlights underneath while running a darker toner through the rest, concentrating on the roots.  I'm really pleased with it!

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask - £20 (100ml)

I received this cute little sample when I placed an order on the Origins website, and despite me originally wanting to try a couple of different Origins products, it was the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask that stole the show - and so I thought I'd give this little sample a review all of it's own!

With having dehydrated skin I was very excited to see Origins were sending me this little gift!  I use this product around three times a week, exactly as you would expect - overnight.  Used as a last step to the night time routine, the product itself is like a super thick moisturiser, with almost a melted balm type of feel to it.  I find that because the mask is so rich, only a small dollop is needed to cover my face and neck (though I ignore the instruction to 'tissue off').  I love that you instantly feel a calming effect, any - even mild - stripping action that my cleanser may have had is straight away remedied with this mask.

The replenishing effect on depleted moisture reserves is only the start though, the Japanese seaweed contained within (don't worry, Drink Up smells lovely!) is also meant to be great for building moisture reserves and preventing further dehydration.  I wake up glowing, with my skin feeling incredibly soft and hydrated.  My skin does still get a little oily towards the end of day (my oiliness seems to stem from my skin trying to overcompensate from dehydration), but the main benefit for me is that my skin feels a lot more comfortable after using the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, whereas it's recently been feeling tight and dry.

I better get onto buying the full size product now or I'll more than upset when my sample runs out!

Elemis Skin Glow Exfoliating Face Wash
Elemis Skin Glow Exfoliating Face Wash - £9.99 (100ml - Superdrug)

I received this sample in a beauty box (glossybox I think) and was very excited to try it, Elemis is such a reliably nice brand.  I think it great that this classic British brand released the Fresh Skin range aimed a teenagers to twenty-somethings.  Containing cherry powder and jojoba beads, with the aim to gently polish and refine skin.  I keep this product in the shower and use it every other day to give my skin that good scrub it needs every once in a while.  A small amount of product goes a long way and although the exfoliating particles contained within are quite sparse, they're very effective and gentle enough to use on a regular basis.

My favourite thing about this product however is the fact that it leave my skin so silky soft, the Skin Glow Exfoliating Face Wash is just like a conditioner for you face!  The exfoliating beads are suspended within a mixture of mandarin, which smells amazing, and aniseed.  Elemis says this combo will leave your skin brighter and more radiant, they were definitely right!

You can pick up most of the Fresh Skin range in Superdrug, and I'll definitely be picking up the full size of this product!
