Inhibitif Hair Minimiser

Inhibitif Advanced Hair Free Serum - £29.99 (Boots.co.uk)

Walk into any Boots at the moment and you'll be confronted with the latest wonder product claiming to be a solution to that most hated chore, hair removal.  I was instantly drawn in.  Hair removal is a big issue for me, I've touched upon the subject before, in one of my most popular posts on this blog - My Guide to Epilating.  Shaving is more than a pain for most people, but I get regrowth pretty straight away - no exaggeration.  My legs are so sensitive, coming out in painful and unattractive rashes from the use of hair removal creams, waxing and even shaving.  Epilating seemed to the best budget option for me ( though I'd love to be able to afford laser treatment), and it still is, but it's a lot of work trying to avoid the ingrown hairs, and once you get out of the routine it takes a lot of courage to get back into it - it can be bloody painful the first couple of goes!

At £29.99 Inhibitif is quite an investment, but it's more than worth it if does all it claims.  The serum works to target the hair follicle, to slow down growth as well as minimising the density and thickness of the hair itself.  Sounds great, but it's quite a commitment.  You need to use the serum twice a day for 8 weeks, applying it to shaved or waxed body areas.  I'm guessing that I'll have to shave or epilate every day or two, which I'm kind of dreading, fearing a shaving rash.  However it seems that Inhibitif is also meant to be great for minimising ingrown hairs and skin irritation, so hopefully that solves a problem in itself!

I don't have any results to report yet, I've only be using Inhibitif for two days, but I'm very excited about this product.  My only observations so far are that it's smells ok - a strange mix of some kind of clean, fresh minty smell and... TCP! Very strange, but ok.  It also leaves the skin super soft, maybe a little tingly at first, but nothing uncomfortable.  I've got very high hopes of Inhibitif saving my summer!!

Happy Sunday!  I hope you've all had a lovely weekend.  I just wanted to put up a quick post to show you my new hair.  No great changes, it's a bit of a mess because I was caught it rain/ hail leaving the hair dressers and the pictures don't quite do it justice because they were taken around 4:30 pm - so really bad light!  But here we go.

I hadn't had my hair cut in FIVE MONTHS!  Shocking I know.  But I have quite a phobia of hairdressers, they never seem to listen to what I want!  Luckily, I think I've found a nice one now though!  I've had a good 3-4 inches chopped off with a few long layers.  If you look through my last few outfit posts, you can see that my hair was looking a bit 'brassy' through the mid sections, towards the ends.  I wanted to get rid of this and go back to my darker 'roots', whilst also keeping the lighter ends (but without being in your face ombre).

My lovely hair dresser seemed to know exactly what I was after.   She put a few highlights underneath while running a darker toner through the rest, concentrating on the roots.  I'm really pleased with it!

This is a very late post on the 1st Birthday edition of the Glossybox, but I wanted to get something up to show you what I got before the June box arrives!  The reason this post is so late is that I was feeling a little uninspired by the May box, and from reading other reviews this month I don't think I'm the only one.  I little disappointing after having few really good boxes recently, I suppose we all just had high hopes for the one year anniversary box!

The Noble Isle Bath & Shower gel does smell lovely, quite citrusy, though the scent is described as elderflower and gooseberry.  Nothing to get excited about, and with a full size bottle coming in at around the £20 not something I can imagine myself repurchasing!  Still, this will come in handy when I'm on holiday.  I don't like receiving these type of perfume samples in beauty boxes, I think that if we're paying for something the quality should be a bit better and these literally are the sample types that you can pick up from a perfume counter without even having to ask.  Both the Lolita Lempicka scents are nice, L'Eay en Blanc being very fresh, like fresh laundry and Si Lolita being more spicy.  I'm not sure either are quite my perfect scent however.  I'm not a massive fake eyelash wearer, I love the effect but am crap at applying them.  I must say I'm little freaked out that the Let's Go Lashes are 100% human hair... I wouldn't think twice about human hair extension but something about it being near eye feels a little strange!  I'll probably use these one day though!

Weleda is a brand that I'm quite pleased see in the Glossybox, though I was a little disappointed by not really knowing what this Wild Rose product is!  There is no english to be found anywhere on the packaging and the Glossybox product list wasn't very helpful either.  The little moon symbol on the packaging suggests this is some kind of night cream?  The consistency is quite thick, almost greasy, so I'm not really sure I'll be using it on my face.  The sample size is so small that I think I'm just going to carry it in my handbag to use up on my hands.  It is very moisturising though so I'm looking forward to using it up.

My favourite product of the box was the Uniqone All in One Hair Treatment.  A leave in mask that offers 10 benefits that hair needs and I must say I've enjoyed using it so much I've used up the whole sample!  I'm not sure about all the '10 benefits' but it definitely helps me brush out my tangled hair after a shower and it definitely leave my hair very soft.  I'm actually going to be purchasing a full size bottle!

So, other than the Uniqone product, this months Glossybox was a bit 'bleh' for me, even despite the extra gesture of a handy little compact mirror!

Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes?  What did you think of this months Glossybox.  Did any of you get the HD Brows Grow Baby Grow?  It looks quite interesting, I'm always on the look out for something to thicken up my sparse light brows!!

Another Glossybox Post!  Woo?!  I'm starting to feel conflicted over the Glossybox posts, I can't help feeling slightly bored by them but at the same time I still  get very excited when the postman brings this box of surprises and I'm always very intrigued to see what everyone else received!  Let me know what you think about these posts, are you getting fed up of seeing them pop up in your reading list?

Anyway, onto the products!  I don't think I was the only to find this box a bit 'blah'.  But like it seems to turn out with most other months products, I think I'll get quite a lot use out of each in this months box!

DuWop Venom Gloss:  I'm not someone to wear a lot of lip product but if we're to get a lipgloss I'm glad to have received a nice sheer neutral like this shade, buttercup.  Apparently famous for lip plumping, though I've not actually heard of this brand before, I'm not sure I've noticed anything in that department, but it certainly does sting!

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Relaxing Balm:  I love my self a good frizz controlling serum!  I also love wearing my hair wavy at the moment though, so haven't actually got round to using this product geared at relaxing wavy - curly hair.  I am really looking forward to using this product however!

Como Shambhala Invigorate Body Lotion:  My first thoughts were 'oh boring, another body lotion'!  I wasn't impressed at all with January's offerings in this category.  This eucalyptus, geranium, lavender and peppermint concoction is a lot more impressive, it totally reminds me of Neil's Yard products!  Still, not massively exciting though.  Another product I'll be saving for my hand luggage.

Dr Bronner Magic Liquid Soap:  I've spotted Dr Bronner in American Apparel, but never purchased... had no idea what it was actually for!  I still don't really, though think it's primarily a shower gel, though can be used on hair, face and even for softening water in the washing machine!

BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow:  I was really disappointed with the shade I was given!  Luck of the draw right?  Oh well.  Along with the colour not being very 'me' I find that I never actually use loose pigment eyeshadows.  No matter how pretty they they look in the container, I just find them a pain to use!

Are you guys subscribed to a beauty box?  What do you think of the products in this months Glossybox?

How to Hair Heat Free WavesHow to Hair Heat Free Waves BloggerHow to Hair Heat Free Waves BloggerHow to Hair Heat Free Waves Blogger

I feel like I'm constantly in the midst of my 'Hair Conservation Project', what I named my continued quest to rid myself of split ends!  I've recently decided to use minimal heat as possible, which has meant having to be a little more creative when trying to create loose waves!

Here's my current routine:
(bearing in mind my hair does have a bit of a natural wave to it, and isn't the thickest so dries quite quickly)
  • Shampoo and heavily condition the ends
  • Run some serum through the length of the damp hair
  • Blow dry the roots, gently blasting the rest of length - all on a cool setting
  • While the ends are still damp separate the hair into sections
  • Twist! Into what I can only describe as a mixture of dreadlocks/ ringlets
  • Continue twisting until hair is dry (or as long as you can face wait)
Additional step if you're going somewhere special
  • Spritz with a heat protectant spray
  • Curl a few strands with straighteners or curling wand to add a bit more definition.

In other news it was my birthday yesterday!  Thank you to all my friends and family that sent me cards and pressies, and everyone who sent me lovely birthday wishes, texts and messages on facebook and twitter!  I had a really quiet one, mainly because I was full of cold and felt pretty rubbish.  Chris ended up taking me for a lovely meal though, we went to a Greek restaurant.  Yum!

I'm currently every so slightly obsessed with Game of Thrones, I'm reading the second book on the kindle at the moment.  This bronze H&M jumper seriously reminds me of chain mail... which is kinda the fashion in the books!   The jumper is made of a really heavy, almost metallic type material.  It's not exactly warm, with the amount of holes it's got in it, but I love the colour and the really baggy fit.

This is my first ever monthly favourites post!  I get so much inspiration for new products from reading these posts on other peoples blogs, but it's only just occurred to me to share mine!

01.  I bought the Tangle Teezer about two weeks ago and have not looked back since!  Now that my hair is getting quite long, and with it being in pretty bad condition this little baby has been an absolute life saver throughout November.  It really does quickly and gently get out any those pesky knots!

02.  The good old classic Carmex has helped my lips with that nasty transition from summer to winter that always usually makes my lips horrendously chapped.  I've also been appreciating the menthol smell, it's been quite soothing while I've had a bit of a cold recently!

03.  If you read my Weekly Wrap Ups or follow me on instagram, you may have noticed that I've stuck to one nail varnish recently, Models Own Juicy Jules!  I love the disco ball effect of this nail varnish and have had it on my nail constantly, either alone or layered with greys, purples and pinks!

04.  After wanting to try the well known branded Moroccan Oil but not being able to bring myself to spending an absolute fortune, I quickly snapped up this little bottle of Argan Magic when I spotted it in TK Maxx for around only £12!  My hair is pretty dry and damaged at the moment, but after applying this sparingly to the ends of my hair twice a week, it's slowly starting to look healthier and tonnes shinier!  The best thing is I can't see this running out for ages.  Definitely a good buy!

05.  I received a gift voucher from Leeds' beautiful Victoria Quarter for this write up on one of their many fabulous events a while back.  After a lot of umming and ahhing I decided to treat myself to the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser.  I'm not a massive foundation wearer, only really on nights out, so after reading rave reviews about this tinted moisturiser I thought it would be the best solution for my oily and breakout prone skin.  I bought it in September and wasn't convinced at first, I thought it was greasy and smelt funny!  However I turned back to it this month and love it!  The oil soon disappears and leaves my skin looking glowing and nicely covered.  You soon get used to the strange smell too!

06.  When picking up the tinted moisturiser I spotted the Baked Eye Colour in Black Karat, literally winking at me at the counter!  It was such a stunning shimmery khaki colour that I couldn't resist buying myself it.  It's been absolute favourite 'go-to' eyeshadow throughout November.  The colour is so amazing rich when used wet and perfectly suits the metallic trends around at the moment, however my favourite way of using it came about because of my laziness!  Running late for a night out I'd just finished contouring my face and just decided to quickly sweep some bronzer over my eyelids and be done with it, this looked a bit pants so I tried to fix it by roughly sweeping Black Karat over the top, it looked so good that I've been wearing the look non stop all month!

So far I've been kind of a 'if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it' kind of blogger.  I definitely take this attitude out with me when I'm reading other peoples blogs.  If someone posts something that I don't agree with, styles an outfit in a way that I think looks ridiculous or ridicules/ raves about a product that I love/ hate, I just think 'oh well' and move on.  Everyone has their own opinions, style and things that work for them, I'm still interested in what others have to say.  Moreover, if I read a less than positive review on something I'm often quite grateful as I'm often spared time, effort and money, which could have been wasted on a product that's less than great.

That's why I've decided to do a quick post on my experience with Lush's Retread Conditioner.

However, before I go on I'd like to say a few nice things.  Firstly, I really like Lush as a brand and unlike a lot of people I know, I love the smell of the stores as I walk by.  Their soaps and bath bombs are a great little luxury.  I think it's great that they are an ethical company, sourcing fresh ingredients, not testing on animals, not using unnecessary packing and promoting recycling.  Their staff are generally really helpful and friendly too.  Secondly, and on to the Retread conditioner itself, I think it smells lovely, it reminds of sweets and particularly the parma violets sweets I used to eat as a kid!  I always got complements that my hair smelt great after using this conditioner.

So, what do I think about performance?  First of all here's what Lush say about this product on their website:

Triple strength conditioner for extra softness. As with so many Lush products, Retread appears to resemble a cholesterol-laden pudding. It is scented with violets and oranges with a hint of sensual musk. We dip our hands in and plaster the super-smoothing cream all over our hair for the seaweed, yoghurt, cantaloupe melon and jojoba oil to give seriously sad hair its shine back. Do not use it if your hair is lifeless and limp, Retread would squash it flat. Use it when your hair is feeling rough, harsh and wrecked. Retread will restore its sanity.

I wish I'd known this product shouldn't be used on limp or lifeless hair before buying as I'd definitely have reconsidered this purchase, and most likely saved myself the £8.99!  I went for this product as my hair was quite dry, more so at the ends, but very damaged and weak.  I wouldn't describe it as lifeless or limp, I've just got quite thin hair that was quite damaged from old highlights and over straightening.  What I was looking for was a super-moisturing, damage repairing conditioner that could be used a couple of times a week to revitalise my hair, so on telling this to the shop assistant in Lush, they recommended Retread.

After the first use of this product I actually quite liked it, my hair seemed quite soft and perhaps a little shinier, however that changed the more I used it.  The product would just build up and weigh down my hair, leaving it lank and unmanageable.  No matter how long I spent washing it out there always seemed to product in my hair after showering.  After over a week my hair seemed to get quite straw-like and was really hard to brush through... it was at this point that point that I stopped using Retread!

Have any of you guys used Lush's Retread before?  What did you think?  Let me know if there are any lush conditioners that you would recommend.

I haven't been to a hairdresser in AGES - after having a few near on disasters last year!  However, after a gradual awaking as to how bad my split ends and damaged hair actually is, I finally decided to book in for a hair cut on Saturday!  In preparation I thought I'd post a few inspirational images here.  My hair is just below my armpits at the moment, I know that my hair won't suddenly grow a couple of inches or suddenly become super glossy and wavy, but I just want my hair to look healthier with a few choppy layers in it that will give it movement, body and look great when I put waves in it...  wow, did that sounded like a L'oreal advert or what?! :)  Well anyway, perhaps I'll try a soft fringe too..
