Charlottes Collection | Leeds UK Blog : Fashion | Beauty | Lifestyle

I've featured some of my Models Own purchases on my blog already, along with my dodgy attempts at nail art!  I've been holding off posting about the rest of the nail polishes I got in the 50% off sale, partly because I've been a bit of a bad blogger, but also because there was a slight mistake with my order.  It was a slight disappointment after unpacking the fabulously packed polishes to discover that, instead of 'Golden Peach', I was sent 'Bubblegum', slightly to noon a pink for me!  I think I might be giving this polish away!  The mistake wasn't a problem though, the really helpful team at Models Own sent out the Golden Peach polish once I informed them, although it took a while to reach me, now I've got it, I really love it!

Pink Fizz, I love the colour and chunky glitter.  In this picture I had applied two light coats which looks fab, but I also love it with a couple more layers, which you can see pictures of here.

Proper Copper, a lovely coppery-metallic colour with tiny flecks of gold.  This was the colour which I was most excited about for autumn.  I do love the colour, but was more than disappointed with the polish as a whole.  Little air bubbles in the formula pretty much ruined the finish, also the packaging was pretty much broken.  The first time I opened it the lid came off, slightly inconvenient when trying to apply polish!

Purple Grey, a perfect colour for the autumn winter and perfect to apply!

Golden Peach, the colour I waited so long for!  Not quite peach, but a beautiful golden orange.  I wished I picked this up over the summer months though!

Juicy Jules, I love the disco ball effect of this polish.  I'm looking forwarded to layering this with just about every polish I own!

Purple Ash, a gorgeous plum colour and again, stunning for autumn.  Very easy to apply too!

Did any of you guys pick up any nice Models Own polishes in their 50% sale?  Let me know what you think of their polishes, and my picks.

I hope not to have to write too many of these kind of posts... but I know I've been a bad blogger recently!  Here come the excuses...  I've been crazy busy at work and so done some pretty long hours recently.  By the time I get home I've barely had the time to read some of my favourite blogs, never mind comment on them!  I hate missing posts from the fab fashion and beauty bloggers I follow.

I hope this goes some way to explaining the lack of posts recently :(

Well, there's some good news!  I'm taking a well earned break and heading to Gozo today, one of my favourite places ever!  I hope you can take the time to check out my previous posts on this stunning little Mediterranean island.  This however, will mean another week with post few and far between.  Stick with me though guys, I'll be back soon with holiday themed outfits of the days galore!!

I'll leave you with a quick picture of what I wore on my last minute holiday shopping trip yesteday.  Quite typical of how I've been dressing in the last few hectic weeks, hair scraped back and comfy clothes!!

I hope you don't find this post too random, being that this mascara was discontinued earlier this year (I think)!  However, when I recently found the Maybelline Pulse Perfection mascara in the cosmetics section of TK Maxx I was reminded how this was a mascara that I'd repurchased a couple of times in the past. I'd simply forgotten about when it disappeared from stores!

I remember reading tonnes of conflicting reviews when this mascara was originally released.  Obviously the main feature of this mascara is the vibrating brush, something originally done by Lancome and Dior.  I have generally always preferred a larger brush, with proper bristles, which does give more volumised look than plastic bristles, but was of course intreged to try out this new idea in mascara 'technology'.  Well, as you may have guessed by this not being my first purchase of Pulse Perfection, I really like this mascara!

With a button that requires being constantly held in for the vibration action, this mascara can take a bit of getting used to.  Also, and not surprisingly, the thing that takes most getting used it is of course, the vibrations themselves!  Following the instructions, and starting by placing the mascara wand at the base of your lashes, does tickle!  I always feel like i'm going to sneeze, DISASTER when mixed with wet mascara!  I've never actually sneezed using this mascara though, PHEW!

Once you do get used to the vibrations, and operating them, this is such a quick and easy mascara to use.  The vibrations distribute the mascara beautifully whilst also lengthening and separating the lashes.  Because of the way the vibrations distribute the product, if you're a lazy make-up girl like me, you'll love the fact that this mascara does not need numerous strokes of the brush, the below picture was done with one coat!

More of a day time look, I know, but I think it's lovely.  I was so glad when I found it in TK Maxx!  Since re-discovering the Pulse Perfection I've had numerous complements on my lashes, each one making me ever so slightly gutted that this mascara is now not so easy to come by!... Luckily a quick google search still brings up a few online stores that still sell Pulse Perfection, for bargainous prices too!

Did any of you guys try Maybelline Pulse Perfection when it was originally in stores?

I was so excited to find these beauties waiting for me when I got home from work earlier this week!  We all know that the weather has turned well, horrible recently and the Autumn cold, wind and rain was just what I had in mind when I ordered these distressed looking biker boots from Joe Browns!  Although these boots are a bit more 'masculine' than what I usually go for, I wanted something stylish yet practical for the new season... it's also nice to have to something a little different to choose from!  I've only worn these boots once, but they are SO comfy, and look great with leggings and skinny jeans!

What new goodies have you picked up ready for Autumn/ Winter?

I, like most of the blogging community, took advantage of the recent Models Own 50% off sale.  I finally received all my goodies yesterday, but stay tuned for more on what I got, coming soon!  :)  Within half an hour opening the package I tried out the polish I was most excited about, Pink Fizz, and it totally lived up to expectations!  It's the most glittery polish I own and the most gorgeous silvery-pink colour!  I actually feel like a child playing at princesses wearing it... and I love it!  Obviously being a glitter polish it wasn't the easiest to apply, it took three coats to get to this density of glitter, but I expected it to be more of a pain... saying that I am dreading removing it!

I also bought the the Nail Art Pen in the sale, this was my first EVER attempt at leopard print design... don't laugh!  I didn't actually plan to try any nail art with the Pink Fizz polish, but I couldn't resist and actually quite like the look!  I really can't wait to try it again, hopefully I'll be able to perfect the leopard print!

Before I signed out, I just wanted to say I've a massive amount of respect for the girls that regularly post about nails (example)!  I struggled SO much taking these pictures... picture me awkwardly trying to hold the polish and photograph it, fail!!  Also, apologies for the general state of my nails!  They are completely ruined at the moment!

I'm a massive Sleek Make Up fan.  Recently every time I've passed a Superdrug I've found myself checking to see if the Au Natural Palette, from Sleek's recent Nude collection, is in stock... either all the Superdrugs in Leeds are really rubbish at keeping on top of stock levels, or this palette has been insanely popular!  There are already tonnes of reviews online of this popular budget range but I thought I'd add my two cents to the pot!

I always go in for the nude eye, so first impressions of the Au Naturel palette were 'Love It!'  Which is what I tweeted Sleek when they wished me luck in finding the palette.  However that soon switched to disappointment once I started testing out the shadows and discovered the lighter, top row, colours had barely any pigment at all.  Other than 'Nougat' and 'Taupe' these colours barely show up, as you can see from the swatches, luckily these two colours are gorgeous.  I know I'll get lot's of use out them as highlighters!

The darker shadows were more like what I was expecting from the shadows, beautifully pigmented and a nice mix of shimmer and matte, this lower row absolutely pull it back after the disappointing lighter shades and make the palette an amazing buy for £6.49!

When I was comparing the Au Naturel palettes with the Sleek palettes I own, I was actually slightly miffed by the number duping going on in the palettes... something I didn't notice when buying them!  With the Storm, Oh So Special and Au Naturel palettes side by side I realised across the the three I have at least two of each of the shadows, and three of the 'Noir'!  It's a good job these a fab shadows!  I'll get my use out of each and every one!!

L-R:  Oh So Special, Storm, Au Naturel

I also picked up the Pout Polish in Sleek's Nude Collection, Bare Minimum.  I think the pout polishes are fab, I've got a couple and love the fact they contain SPF15.  Like the rest of the sleek range, they are amazing value coming in at about £4.30.  The pigment of Bare Minimum isn't great but it's enough to give lips that lovely, yet subtle, nude glaze, which is exactly what I go for on the lips.  I love how the pout polishes also smell yummy!

What do you think of Sleek Makeup?  Have you tried anything from the Nude range?  Let me know if you would recommend anything else!
